I'm Engaged! What Now? Q&A

Today's blog post is going to be a little bit different. Normally my posts are full of advice or things to consider when you're planning your own wedding. However, I recently got invited to do a live Facebook Q&A session for a closed Facebook group that I belonged to. The group is called I’m Engaged! What Now? It is a private group for brides and grooms to come together and connect with one another for wedding planning help, support and advice. This tight knit community is exclusively for brides and grooms (or anyone close to getting engaged), bridesmaids/MOHs, Wedding Industry Professionals, or anyone married and willing to help future brides and grooms. Together, members help each other create the perfect wedding day!

To all of you that are members of this incredible group I would like to say welcome. It is truly an honor to be able to help you throughout your planning process. I would really like to take this time to introduce myself to you.

Event planning has been a passion of mine ever since I was a child. I remember growing up with my friends in our apartment building and we were always making performances each year for our parents and our neighbors. We would create a full program! These performances included singing, dancing and theatric appearances. We used to get so excited about planning and executing everything. One year right after I had turned eight, I can remember talking about and then planning a yearly performance with my friends and I remember thinking to myself that this is the coolest thing ever. I thought how cool it would be to do this for a job for the rest of my life. I was so excited and so interested in this process that I chose event planning as my career. Or maybe event planning chose me.

The greatest thing being 8 and already knowing what your dream job is and what you are passionate about. In the pursuit of my dreams, I have involved myself at any chance that arose, to plan, coordinate and execute as many events as I could. I told my parents that I was uncomfortable speaking in front of the public so they decided to sign me up for theater. Then I had to start feeling comfortable being on stage and with public speaking. To make my dreams come true I also knew I had to get a higher education. Which also lead me to obtain my bachelor Business Management degree with an emphasis on Project Management.

I started event and wedding planning about 12 years ago. I was working with a wedding planner for 5 years. I have been working on my own for 7 years now. I have always wanted to help make people’s dreams come true and lift the weight of the stress associated with planning weddings off my clients so they can enjoy the magical day.

For the last 12 years I have been doing what I love but it was time to make my ultimate dream come true and establish my own event planning company. I would like to share with you just a little bit of a background on Heartfelt Event Planning. The company was established in 2016 by me and my 3 partners – Bryson, Silviya and Bonnie. I have the event and wedding management experience, Bryson has over 13 years of experience in the music industry and wedding DJ services, Silviya has a background in the food and beverage industry and catering along with a Bachelors degree in Entrepreneurship and Masters Degree in Finance and Financial Accounting. Bonnie is the silent partner that helps with the administrative side of the business so that the 3 of us can focus on providing excellent care to our clients. We offer a variety of services such as top to bottom wedding planning, partial planning, day-of coordination, consulting services and a blog full of helpful tips.

In this group, I have done my best to help brides-to-be in any way that I can. Sometimes that means giving advice and other times giving some comfort and/or support. I treat these brides-to-be like I would treat any of my clients, with respect and giving them the most helpful answers that I can, and I enjoy every second of it. I have also tried to answer posts that I see that may not get as much attention as other posts.
